Celestial explores our relationship with the world around us. Inspired by a symphony of the sea and sky as well as the stars and moon, the collection focuses on being innovative and sustainable in today’s society.
The collection embraces ‘the space industries and fashion industries collaborating and contributing to the UN sustainable development goals.’ (Faar Space, 2022). Moreover, Celestial encourages curiosity and exploration with the designs being inspired by the archetype of traditional spacesuits and features of the NASA SpaceX suit. The concept merges space and the natural and organic features of coastal shores.
From the stars to the sea, space surrounds us and is a vast mystery. The concept of space acting as a metaphor for the endless potential and creativity we as humans have. Celestial strives to make the wearer feel peaceful and empowered, highlighting the beauty of nature and the cosmic while embracing our individual journeys on earth from a new perspective.
Celestial is aimed at the experiencer, ‘someone who is up to date with current fashion, spontaneous and sociable, a sensation seeker and someone who goes against the mainstream.’ (SBI, 2023). The light, airy and calm colours in the palette used are neutral and tonal. The combination of pale blue, ‘soothing and invigorating’ (Ebert, 2022), is versatile and can be paired with the whites and soft greys to give the look a more ‘tranquil and coastal feel’ (Ebert, 2022).
