Après-Apricity explores the concept of combining luxury après-ski wear merged with historic and modern day nurse uniforms. The high neck stand collar being one of the main features of the uniform that has inpsired the look. Après meaning ‘after’ and apricity meaning ‘the warmth of the sun in winter’, come together to reflect this look .
The look is made up of 3 fashion forward pieces. A sleek navy patent quilted cropped and slightly oversized puffer jacket that has long navy ribbed cuff sleeves that have a thumb hole feature as well as a chunky exposed zipper detail at the back. The unique short puff sleeves on the jacket creates an almost balloon effect and accentuates the overall shape of the design.
The oversized yet form fitting silhouette is high fashion, edgy and innovative, consiting of fashion items that compliment each other and work cohesively. This look is targeted towards the next generation and women between 16-23 who want a stylish statement piece in their wardrobe. The look is high is current and sustainable.
A corset bodice piece at the waist, made through deconstructing lemon yellow denim skirts, up-cycling it to be an innovative fashion piece through the unique panels that have been bleached and frayed to create a unique texture. The final piece being a pair of wide leg stripped pants with a subtle pin stitch has been made through rescyling Missoni fabric to elevate the look and bring it together. Through the effective use of up-cycling denim and using designer dead stock fabric, it ‘reduces the need for production when using new or raw materials’ (Future Learn, 2022)
